Newspaper article in 'Keswick Reminder' - Friday 20th July 2012 written by Shadi Vossough

“Keswick couple, James and Dagmara Cooper have taken the reins at The Pack Horse Inn saying it’s a dream come true for them, and they plan to reinvigorate the pub, tempting customers old and new with a warm welcome, real ales and traditional food with a twist.

James and Dagmara gave up plans and employment in Manchester to stay in Keswick and re-launch the pub, which is in Packhorse Court just off Keswick’s Main Street.

Keswick man, James, aged 35, has 22 years' chef experience that began in Manchester’s Belfry Hotel and continued in Australia and Guernsey before he returned home. It was whilst working in the former Keswick Lodge that James met his wife Dagmara, 30, who is originally from Torun in Poland, where she spent time studying for her Art and Multimedia Masters degree at the Nicholas Copernicus University.

James and Dagmara readily gave up their plans to move to Manchester when the lease on the Pack Horse Inn became available, allowing them to stay in the town they love whilst also achieving James’ dream to have his own restaurant.

Dagmara will draw on her arts training, including graphic design and marketing experience to revamp the pub’s branding and take on front of house responsibilities.

The couple have been overwhelmed by the help they have received from family and friends since taking on the lease of the pub, getting it up to scratch in only 10 days, ready for its opening party last Saturday night.” It was 14th July 2012.
